Wow did I leave it so long for an update? Time flys I tell you...
Anyway I'm currently giving brs.com a good overhaul and overdue re-hash
/ modernisation. Check out the cool new stuff like the flash player
on the homepage and cool youtube embeded video's on the About page and
Video pages.
Well "Too Late" has been getting great reviews and
plays from all and sundry, the acapella features on the latest Purple
Music compilation "My girlfriend is out of town" and the
full track is on the new Kinky Sweet compilation "Miami After
Dark".....nice
You'll see a few new tracks featured on the new player on the Home page,
Gap Tooth Gypsys - Gotsta Feel Good is one of them. For a start Gap
Tooth Gypsys are Sam Gibbons (me ya goon) and Eddy G my boy from
Sheffield. A disco fused rocker this one in a similar vein to P-funkateers
featuring Cojack on spoken vocal duties, will let you know when
we got a release soted on this one.
Also on the player is Havana Candy Crew - Square Wave, first
off Havana Candy Crew are myself and Joe Lucas (61Players). Square Wave
is a deeper workout for all the heads check out that killer bass line!
Tons of stuff in production at the moment..maybe too much really ...
be patient I'll get there.
And finaly it will be the third Shimmy on the 14th October a
new night started by Craig Baillie and myself. It runs once a month
usualy the second Saturday at Ninas (Todmordens newest club). Its a
small room with a friendly intimate vibe (100 people) for House lovers.
Taking you back to the Out In The Sticks vibe this month with
special guest Russ Marland. We'll be doing our thing from 9pm
- 4am so get along and have some fun only £2.50 on the door!
March 2006
Miami, Miami, Miami, Miami .... how was it? Bloody great thats what!
Thats got to be the best WMC yet for me and guys I traveled with. Graham
Lord (Audiowhore), Nick Moss (Groove Assassin) and the legend that it
Eddy G and my good self (Sam Gibbons) set out on the WMC jurney once
more.
After getting there late on the 20th we had a couple of days till the
parties kicked off in anger, or so we thought. A chance meeting with
Bryan Gerard & Dave Drone of Celebrity Records saw us taking a trip
to Sunset Island for a private house party. Hosted by Thomas Spiegal
boss of new label Deep Haven Records it was a killer. Full on BBQ and
Bar all layed on for a handfull of lucky guests, with a rockin system
installed in the front room. We were all feeling Deep Haven's first
release, a powerhouse vocal Big "Brooklyn" Red - He Moves
this track was sounding sweet (need to get my hands on that on).
Feb 2006....
Whats up everyone.... Sorry for the lack of updates but been busy
with this and that, you know how it is. So what news do I have, BackRoomSounds
ft Ellen - Deep Inside is going well with Soul Tonic Recordings
out of Leeds UK. I believe the vinyl will be available in the next week
or so, with MP3's through Traxsource.com we got it covered. Word
is, the legend that is Charles Dockins is currently working his magic
on a remix on Deep Inside for Soul Tonic for an exclusive Traxsource
unreleased mix so keep you eyes well and truely peeled for that bad
boy.
Hot Hot Hot news the omnipresent Soulfuric Records USA has snapped
up ''BackRoomSounds - Too Late'' and should be due for release
in the coming weeks. After a previous release with Soulfuric sister
label deVICE I'm super excited about landing on the Soulfuric
Deep label for this release. With a host of mixes from myself and
big name remix to come this promises to be BackRoomSounds biggest release
to date, already being shortlisted on various hot compilation wish lists
weeks before its release.
''P-funkateers - Final Fling'' Look At You Records USA, a colab
between Nick Moss (Groove Assassin) & myself Sam Gibbons
(BackRoomSounds) continues to be rinsed by the clued up jocks around
the world. Dont be too surprised if this bad boy tune jumps up again
soon and smacks you over the head........ you've been warned
;o)
In the studio
One or two projects on the go which I'm excited about and also plans
to do an album of a slightly different nature. My good friend and keyboard
guru Barney and I intend to set out on a voyage of latin, jazz, groove
and soul with Rhodes piano being the glue to bind it all together. This
is something we both are very excited about and is a long term plan
so I'll still be weaving in the House stuff as well. I may even House
up the odd track from the album....
